Herbed Tomato Pizza Sauce/Marinara Sauce

This recipe is adapted from a recipe from All Recipes. It is infinitely better than the jarred pizza sauce you get from the grocery store. Besides, when making pizza sauce at home is so easy why would you want to buy the stuff full of additives from the store?

Ingredients:

1.5 cups tomato sauce or tomato paste diluted in some water to make the same quantity.
3 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese (freshly grated is always best but you can use the pre-grated cheese if desired).
2 cloves minced garlic
2 tbsp honey
2 tsp anchovy paste (optional)
1 tsp onion powder
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon dried marjoram
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon dried red pepper flakes
Salt to taste

Method:
Place tomato sauce or tomato paste and water in a bowl. Add the rest of the ingredients and microwave for 2 minutes. The sauce should be thickened at this point. Set aside to cool.

This can be used as a base for pizzas or can be used for dipping with breadsticks.

I absolutely love the pizza recipe. Our favorite part is the sauce. It has the perfect amount of kick to it!
